Can't afford an attorney or simply want to be more involved with your own case?
If yes, free help is now available on the Internet for the estimated 4.3 million Californians who represent themselves in court each year. The new California Courts Online Self-Help Center is now available on the official Web site of the California courts:
www.courtinfo.ca.gov.
"
Our new Web site will make the legal process more accessible to the many Californians who go to court without an attorney because of economic reasons...We know the informed litigants ensure a more just and efficient process for both the litigants and the courts," states Chief Justice Ronald M. George, chair of the Judicial Council.
While the new site does not encourage people to represent themselves in court, which can be a frustrating experience without any expert assistance, it offers step-by-step assistance to those who do.
